Tomas is about to finish school, but doesn’t know what he can hope for from the future. On a school trip to a museum, he meets Eglé, who is the same age as him, and the two spontaneously decide to skip the boring tour. They head off into the country and experience carefree moments together before everyday life catches up with them again. The director and trained cinematographer Algirdas Araminas created a film of formally impressive Cinemascope compositions in painterly black and white that is completely unknown in Germany. His work breathes freedom and sincerity, even if there are threads of melancholy doubt woven through it. (nf/gv)
